Neighborhood Spotlight – Columbia MD

The town of Columbia, Maryland is one of the first “planned communities” in the United States. A “planned community” is one built from scratch that is designed to provide its residents with any needs, whether they are residential, educational, commercial, or recreational. Columbia is located in Howard County, thirty minutes Southwest of Baltimore and forty-five minutes Northeast of Washington, D.C., making the major metropolitan areas very accessible. Columbia is comprised of ten villages, or neighborhoods, that contain all types of residences, from a corporate apartment to a single-family home. Each village comes with a shopping center, a community center, plenty of walking and bike paths and more! Located in the heart of Columbia is the Columbia Mall which holds more than 200 stores and a movie theater, as well as Merriweather Post Pavilion, an outdoor concert venue.
